Experienced enough to challenge.
Practical enough to move forward.
I'm Tara Roseneck, an independent product consultant based in Calgary, working with tech teams across North America.
I help growing companies cut through competing priorities, make the hard decisions and support their teams to move forward with more confidence and clarity.

Enterprise rigour.
Startup speed.
Senior judgment.
I've spent my career across software development, QA and product, from large enterprises such as Morgan Stanley, Getty Images, Hitachi ID Systems and Travel Alberta, as well as startups and smaller businesses navigating growth and change.
I've been the developer handed a "small change" that wasn't small. I've been the tester who realized the requirement didn't make sense. And I've been the product manager explaining to leadership why the date moved again.
That experience means I can move between the strategic vision and the practical reality — from conversations about business goals and investment to the daily decisions between product and engineering.

I don't need to be right about everything.
I will challenge a weak assumption. I'll question a roadmap that doesn't make sense. I'll tell you when I think a vendor isn't delivering or a date isn't realistic.
Good product leadership means asking the right questions, making the trade-offs visible and helping the people responsible for the outcome make the best decision with the information available.
Once a decision is made, I get behind it and help the team move forward.
Why independent matters
I'm not selling you more development. I'm not angling for a promotion. I don't have a team to protect.
That gives me the freedom to say the things that can be harder to say from the inside — while still working constructively and supporting the people who have to make the decisions.
THE GET SORTD METHOD
How I work
01 — Understand
Get to the real problem.
I listen to the people closest to the work, understand the context, and dig into what’s actually happening. I look at the customer, business goals, team capacity, current plans and the decisions that have brought you here.
03 — Align
Create a shared direction.
I bring the right people into the conversation and make the thinking visible. Leadership, product and engineering leave with a clearer understanding of what we’re doing, why it matters and what comes next.
02 — Decide
Make the important calls.
We work through assumptions, priorities, constraints and trade-offs to determine what matters most. The aim is clear, well-informed decisions that the team can stand behind.
04 — Move
Turn direction into progress.
Plans only become valuable when they translate into real work. I stay connected to the team and delivery, helping turn decisions into realistic priorities, keeping momentum and adjusting when reality changes.
What clients say
Practical, collaborative and willing to ask the hard questions.
